Tower defense games for the iPhone are maybe as many as fart apps. Unfortunately few of them come out of the crowd and end up being fantastic. One of these games is Dungeon Defense developed by the InMotion Software studio. This game brings a fresh new spin for this kind of games and may be the one that could compete with other great titles, such as Field Runners.
InMotion’s app takes the classic elements of tower defense games and adds a unique feel to it. Instead of towers you build undead minions that each have a special ability: Swordsman - backstab, double damage; Archer – fire arrows, splash damage; Axeman/Tank – Taunt (attracts hero attack); King – Haste army, slow heroes, lightning attack.
Controls are as simple as possible, the player clicks predefined marks on the ground where they can place their skeletons which are used to battle through 190 waves of ever more powerful heroes that enter your crypt in search of riches and fame. Your objective is to not allow them to reach and kill your king, and you do this by slaying as many as you can and by doing this you earn gold which later you can use to buy new minions or upgrade and even heal old ones.
Although Dungeon Defense is a great game, it doesn’t come without some very noticeable bugs one of which is that you can pause the game and sell a unit as many times and for as much gold as you want without loosing it until you press the play button again, but I am sure this is a problem that the developers will soon address.
Features:
-Three levels of difficulty
-Achievement medals as you master each level of play
-A fast forward option for the game
-Ability to upgrade you units
-Ability to heal or resurrect units
PRO’s:
-Very fun game that can be played over and over again
-Great game art and level design
-A very different feel from other tower defense games
-Potential of becoming even better with the addition of new maps and foes with future updates
CON’s:
-The game starts a little bit slow
-You can only place your minions on predefined places on the ground making the game feel a little repetitive
-More maps should be available
Price:
It is available at the App Store for 2.99$

This game is a cool looking tower defense variation. Love the graphics and the ambience of the map. Really enjoy the unit upgrading, healing, ressurecting, etc…
The biggest drawback to this game is the limit of one battle map, and too few unit types.
The enemy gets wizards and rogues, the player should get more variety in units.
Field Runner is a much more enjoyable tower defense game. This one has potential, but needs some added content.
