Galaxy on Fire is a sci-fi adventure game that puts your iPhone in a good light, it is one of the most complex and well put together games that is out there. Great graphics , high quality sound , multi touch and accelerometer controls makes this one of the must-have games for the iPhone / iPod Touch.

In Galaxy on Fire you are a mercenary that has to battle evil forces in order to survive , the action takes place in a huge galaxy with hundreds of planets and space stations. The game has an interesting trading system that lets you upgrade your space ship with dozens of different weapons , powerups , engines and shields.

The game is full of cutscenes that really make you feel a part of the game and also making for a great story.

You have a choice of controls a touch based one and an accelerometer one , both are equally hard to master. You will find that you will need some practice to advance through the game.

There are 13 missions that you have to complete before the game really opens up , only upon completion of those will you be able to choose from a larger variety of weapons and power-ups ,through the use of the in game trading system.

• Gripping story with lots of dialog and 3D-animated cut scenes
• 10 unique spaceships to choose from that can be upgraded with dozens of weapons, shields, drives, etc.

PRO’s:
- Beautiful cutting edge 3D graphics with good frames/second
- Cinematics and storyline are awesome
- You can choose between the type of controls , you can either have an d-pad touch control or an accelerometer based one

CON’s:
- The game should have an “easy” mode , because it is very hard to master , some other players have stated that mission 9 is impossible to pass

It is available at the App Store for 5.99$ , small price for a very good game

Level 9 is not all that difficult. As I said on my review for the game in the store it’s just about the controls. Try just putting your left thumb in the center of the directional stick and just keep it there and move the pressure around gently, you know, balance board style. The ship’s control amazingly well this way; no more agitated swiping at the screen in the heat of battle. Do this and you will get through the levels, it’s very satisfying. I’m quite a way in now, maybe three hours or so but it is a HUGE game. I consider this to be one of the must have games. As the bar keeps getting set higher and higher almost weekly this one sits pretty at the top for me for now. Try the control the way I describe, works a treat. I hope that some more game’s will play into these controls if any dev’s are reading it can be done.

Mission 9 isn’t difficult at all. i don’t recommend using the touch controls. I found the accelerometer works best in this game. The mission took me a few times to complete, but once i could control the ship better and figured out a better strategy it was pretty easy ( always make sure you have the best weapons & shields possible (if you can buy some shields))

  5. Shai Said,

Although I don’t remember which one mission 9 was, I remember getting stuck with one mission where you had to destroy cannons. All you have to do is make sure to get rid of the fighters first, and then worry about the cannons. This is by far the best game I have on my phone, I am about 13 hours into it right now and it is just amazing.
I also found the accelerometer to be the best way to control the game (my thumb more than covers the d-pad…).
It looks like this game is going to keep me busy for a while.

  8. Ghorg Said,

more: I dodge the figther first and destroy as many cannons as possible, then turn around, get the fighter then destroy the rest of the cannons on the cruiser, the two on the backside of it I destroy by flying under the cruiser from the front and shot ‘em up
