Hill Billy - iPhone Review

As I go through the variety of shooter games for the Iphone I become more and more convinced that this is not the platform for this kind of apps, but more for casual arcade or strategy games. In the future a game may be developed that will change my mind but Hill Billy is not that game.
From the vast majority of shooters for the Iphone this probably is the one with the best graphics and most interesting weapons and weird foes. Hill Billy tries to be a hybrid shooter with influences from classic arcade games. In this game you are a farmer that needs to protect his carrots from invading robot animal pillagers. You get to play trough five levels that take place around your farm in which you get to use a variety of weapons to destroy the biomechanical creatures.
The controls seem responsive at first when you are in an open field, as they are based on the accelerometer so you basically just have to tilt your phone to move around and touch the screen to shoot, but get abysmal once you get in a closed environment. You will basically spend half of your time banging against the walls and doors trying to find out what you need to do next. The controls would have been a lot easier if you would just have a simple direction pad in one corner of the screen to use for movement, and maybe use the accelerometer to look up or down .Also the game tries too hard to have a story and you waste too much time staring at the screen unable to do nothing till the cut scene is over.
Hill Billy is a decent game for the Ipone, with some innovative graphics for this genre, but it still has a long way to go to become a fun experience. Maybe with some updates from the developers it will reach that objective.

-Bad controls once you are in a closed environment
-You often will end up running around a room not knowing what to do
-Cut scenes take too long for a story that is not that interesting
- Long loading times
