Tower defense games for the iPhone are maybe as many as fart apps. Unfortunately few of them come out of the crowd and end up being fantastic. One of these games is Dungeon Defense developed by the InMotion Software studio. This game brings a fresh new spin for this kind of games and may be the one that could compete with other great titles, such as Field Runners.

InMotion’s app takes the classic elements of tower defense games and adds a unique feel to it. Instead of towers you build undead minions that each have a special ability: Swordsman - backstab, double damage; Archer – fire arrows, splash damage; Axeman/Tank – Taunt (attracts hero attack); King – Haste army, slow heroes, lightning attack. Another classic release has surfaced in the AppStore , Capcom have quietly released Mega Man 2 an exact port of the classic game.
The game is fun and has a great nostalgic factor, it features all 14 levels and 9 unique bosses. Every thing sounds good until you actually play the game. The controls are impossible , the designers tried to keep the original buttons and joystick but they made them imprecise and way to cluttered. The screen is also to small as the Mega Man logo on top takes up useless space. Read the rest of this entry »

2079 - iPhone Review

2079-thumb-main
2079 is an addictive and simple arcade game but sometimes simple ideas are the most fun. The focus of this game is to shoot as many space ships as possible that try to kamikaze you. Although the graphics are pretty basic they work perfect with the retro feel of the game.
The controls are surprisingly good for a game that is based on the Iphone’s in-built accelometer, basically you have a semi-transparent wheel on the right with which you control the direction that the ship fires (similar to the one iDracula has, a must have game by the way) and you move left, right, up and down by tilting the phone, you can also shake the phone to unleash a devastating pulse bomb that can save your life although they are in a limited number.
