DinoSmash Online - iPhone Review

Eurocenter seem to have found a recepie to iPhone gameing success with their new action packed multiplayer game. DinoSmash Online is a fast-paced Internet multiplayer shoot’em up for the iPhone and iPod Touch that lets you battle it out with with your friends in a ‘Smash Bros’ style game. Create a profile and quickly find yourself in the middle of the action, smashing your opponents with a giant hammer or blowing them to smithereens with shotguns and rocket launchers. DinoSmash Online is a 2D side scrolling game similar in control to their other title: Alien Abuse.

Game Play:

You control a cute cartoonish dinosaur and have at your disposal 5 weapons plus a grappling hook , they range from shotguns and missile launchers but your most trusty weapon remains a giant hammer. The map consists of platforms on top of palm trees in an jungle environment, you have the ability to jump across the platforms or use your hook to swing from one to another. You can fight up to 16 other players, either in a mindless killing spree death match or in an organized capture the flag. Across the map you will find different power ups to aid you: weapons , shields and health packs.

The game runs very smooth with no frame rate or lag issues even when you are fighting a large number of opponents. The graphics are appealing and along with nice visuals and sound effects make for a great intense atmosphere.

When you first play the game you need to create a profile , it will include the name , email address , gender and zone . Also you can add a picture from the iPhone’s photo gallery.

This profile is used for the online leader board, for an in game chat system and for making a friends list. The leader board keeps track of the most kills and makes statistics per day , per week and all time. The in game chat is great for talking to your opponents and the friends list helps you keep track of them.



Controls:

You control left and right movement and aiming with a joystick on the left side of the screen. On the right side you have 3 main buttons for firing , jumping and grappling hook. In the top right corner you have a button for statistics that shows the current players and their kills and a button to change your weapon to the Hammer. On top you can also see a combat log that shows the killing blows and your health bar. The learning curve is small and you will quickly find yourself mastering the controls.
