Need For Speed Undercover - iPhone Review

Posted by cris On May - 10 - 2009

NFS, iPhone, ReviewEA just raised the bar in racing games, bringing the popular Need For Speed series to the iPhone platform; putting games like Fast and the Furios, Fastlane and others to shame with it’s stelar graphics, exciting and fresh gameplay, smoth controls and cut’s scenes featuring real movie stars like Cristina Milian.

Need For Speed Undercover is a fast paced arcade racer that is in close touch with its console heritage. The gameplay’s been adjusted for the casual nature of the iPhone platform, though. You simply tilt to steer, tilt more to drift, touch the screen to brake, and do nothing to accelerate (it’s automatic). Simple touch gestures handle nitro boost and “speedbreaker,” the game’s slow-motion mode.

Car Jack Streets - iPhone Review

Car Jack Streets,iPhone,review
Car Jack Street is what I have always dreamed a Grand Theft Auto inspired game should look like on the iPhone. The only thing that could surpass this would be if Rockstar (GTA developer) should port the original game on it.
There has been another port for this game called Payback, which in his own way was a pretty decent adaptation of GTA, but it felt like it needed a lot of polish. Car Jack Streets addresses this problem, by copying the graphics of the original GTA first games, and adding some 3d elements (the buildings for example).. Even the storyline is well rounded, a lot better than the one from Payback. Read the rest of this entry »

Tap Tap Coldplay - iPhone Review

I will start this review with a hint: if you are an Iphone developer, and you don’t have an original idea for a game just copy a successful one from the PC or Console market. Of course, an idea is not enough; you also have to do a good implementation, this being the part where a lot of developers fail, even big ones like Capcom with their MegaMan 2 port. But this is not the case of Tapolous and their Tap Tap Revenge series.
In this review I am going to talk about Tap Tap Coldplay. This game is the latest and probably the best release in the Tap Tap Revenge series which also includes: Tap Tap Revenge, Tap Tap Revenge 2, Tap Tap Dance and Nine Inch Nails Revenge. The first two are both free downloads on the appstore and include a multitude of free songs to download online. Read the rest of this entry »

Azkend - iPhone Review

The classic puzzle game bar has just been raised ! With the release of Azkend for iPhone / iPod Touch the developers from MythPeople managed to revitalize the puzzle game genre. Once you start playing you are hooked , the the enticing graphics , the spectacular visual effects and the touch control make you loose track of time.

The game mechanics are similar to other match-3 game of this type : “Treasures of Montezuma” , “Aurora Feint” ,”Bejeweled” etc. but the designers managed to do much more with this idea , spicing things up by adding more features , bonuses and a more fluent and intuitive control system. Dungeon Defense - iPhone Review

Tower defense games for the iPhone are maybe as many as fart apps. Unfortunately few of them come out of the crowd and end up being fantastic. One of these games is Dungeon Defense developed by the InMotion Software studio. This game brings a fresh new spin for this kind of games and may be the one that could compete with other great titles, such as Field Runners.

InMotion’s app takes the classic elements of tower defense games and adds a unique feel to it. Instead of towers you build undead minions that each have a special ability: Swordsman - backstab, double damage; Archer – fire arrows, splash damage; Axeman/Tank – Taunt (attracts hero attack); King – Haste army, slow heroes, lightning attack. Bubblehead a new and addictive game from CrowdCafe has just hit the AppStore shelves. It is a hand-drawn game with cartoonish designs that takes you through multiple eye pleasing environments in which you have to steer your character in order to avoid the hundreds of obstacles.
The object of the game is to get your character through the level , dodging obstacles , picking up stars (that substract seconds from your overall time) and passing through checkpoints , everything to reach the finish line in the fastest time possible. Read the rest of this entry »
